Living in the scenic Pacific Northwest, my current paintings are observations and interpretation of what I see while walking nearby trails, visiting beautiful locations or bringing the world indoors to my studio. I currently work primarily in oil as a painter of landscape, still life and portraiture.

INFLUENCES
Attending the Plein Air Convention and Expo in San Diego in 2016, fanned a flame to paint outdoors as much as possible. What a difference outdoor painting brings to vibrancy in color and observing the delicate colors of shadows in an outdoor scene! Seeing demos by some of the world’s top plein air and landscape artists was a uniquely inspiring and educational opportunity. I have also taken painting and drawing workshops from other award winning artists; such as, Mitch Baird, Thomas Jefferson Kitts, Eric Jacobsen and Yer Za Vue.

BACKGROUND
I started out with a degree in Commercial Art from MATC and worked in Los Angeles for several years creating business graphics for a management consulting firm. Returning to school, I earned a degree in art from Cal State Long Beach and then a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University. After moving to the Pacific Northwest, I eventually was invited to paint a 70-foot mural at my church and turned my attention to fine art permanently. Creating art through painting has been a lifelong passion that I now have the opportunity to devote myself to fully.
